Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 August 2026

Short version: the Spike Local app keeps your data on your own machine. This website collects only what you choose to give us — mainly your email, if you join the waitlist.

Template notice

This is a starting-point policy for a pre-launch site. Have it reviewed by counsel and tailored to your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA, PDPA, etc.) and to the exact tools you use before you rely on it.

1. The app vs. this website

The Spike Local application is local-first. Your files, recordings, memory, and profile are processed and stored on your own device. We do not receive them. The only time data may leave your machine is if you explicitly opt into a cloud model for a specific task, under trust zones you configure. This policy is about the marketing website and the information you share with us here.

2. What we collect

Email address, when you join the waitlist or request early access. Optionally, basic, aggregated analytics about site visits (such as page views and referrer) if we have analytics enabled — configured to avoid collecting personally identifying information where possible. We do not ask for, or want, sensitive personal data through this site.

3. How we use it

To send you your build link and important launch news, and to understand, in aggregate, how the site is performing. That's it. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Who we share it with

Only the service providers needed to operate the site — for example, an email/waitlist provider to deliver messages and, if enabled, a privacy-friendly analytics provider. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms. We do not share your email with anyone else.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your email until you ask us to remove it, or until it's no longer needed for the purpose you gave it. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us at the address below and we'll respond promptly.

7. Cookies

This site aims to run without non-essential tracking cookies. If analytics are enabled, we prefer cookieless or privacy-friendly analytics. Any change to this will be reflected here.

8. Changes

We may update this policy as the product and our practices evolve. We'll change the "last updated" date above when we do.

9. Contact

Questions, or want your data removed? Email privacy@spike.app (replace with your real contact address).
